Mission:
Anubis Rises
Location: ISS Anubis - Scientific Operations Center
The scientific centre was hard steel, in line with the imperial ship design that was 2380s architecture. The Centre was nothing more than a control hub, in the centre of the room was a circular table, split down the middle adjourn with LCARS terminal workstations for the scientist to write theory peppers. Along the walls were doors with windows beside them, allowing passersby to peer into the different laborites cable of many different things and twisting corridors you could get lost for days in. At the very back was a wall built out of glass, the Chief's office given the ability to overlook those mortals at their workstation.
Eden's uniform was crisp and so was his staff wearing their lab coats. They all stood in a line in front of the door with their backs against the workstation awaiting their glorious captain. The Senior Scientist personally inspected his troops, making sure everything was perfect. Once everything was perfect he took his place, a metre away in front of the line, with his hands behind his back, awaiting her. Captain Louise Valliére
The doors opened and in walked Capain Valliére. She held her head high and proud as she walked past the line of scientists. She had already read up on their backgrounds and consulted their files, but she wasn't here to talk or interact with the lower ranks. Instead she walked upto Lieutenant Seamore.
"Seamore I presume?" she asked simply as she looked the larger man up and down.
With his biggest smile, he spoke calmly as an audiobook narrator. "Yes ma'am" a brief pause to extend his hand out to her. "Welcome to the Science Department." A glint of hope that everything she saw was up to her standards.
Louise crossed her arms. "So you're my new Chief Science Officer huh." she stated. "You realise this is a warship, so pursuade me why I need such a department on board!" she demanded. Frankly it was a test, she requested the best of the best and she was going to make sure she got it.
If you're asking you're either incompetent or lazy, the words racing through his head, the words he wanted to say. "Wars are won with intellect, not swords ma'am" he started with. "With me at the helm of this department, you'll know what planets you can use to chase aliens too that would give you an advantage and how you can use their culture against them, turning their minds into a blank canvas you can paint your agenda with. That is what science offers you. An advantage on the battlefield."
"Good answer," Louise replied. "Now, what are your specialties? What do you have to offer the Empire?"
"I'm a Doctor ma'am. A pathologist" You probably don't know what that is, another thought rushing through his head. "I specialise in curing diseases. During the resistance, I was a medical assistant and became a trauma surgeon. With Imperial Starfleet, I aided in fixing outbreaks. Now I serve you."
Louise raised an eyebrow. "Yet you are here in my science department?" she questioned. "And not in medical?" she asked curiously.
Eeden noticed she didn't ask a question but the pause weighed heavy in the air, so he filled the air himself. "I can make a bigger difference to people's health in scientific operations rather than Medical."
"I see," Louise replied simply. She walked over to a nearby Ensign and looked him up and down as if inspecting his uniform. She then returned back to Eden. "Well Lieutenant. You will have no problems with showing me this department."
Eden noticed the CO looking at Ensign Milivoj Ibragimova, the young man with a shaven head and dim blue lights that made him seem sad like he lost quite a lot who was born in Zagreb, Croatia. He was strategically placed there to be noticed. He found most Commanding Officers turn Ensigns into double agents with promises of promotion to keep a good eye on their department head... Eden was staying aboard and he intended to keep it like that,
He led Capt Valliére in front of a glass window that was looking inwards towards a labtoary. "My college," referring to Madai Potočnik, who had just entered the lab, wearing the teal variant of the uniform with a lab coat over the top. She moved slowly, her steel grey hair that reached her shoulders swishing as if it was in the wind as she walked towards the counter at the back of the room, she pulled out a piece of metal, placed it in a bench vice and withdrew a type 1 phaser from a draw. "Is a mineralogist and atom theorist, "He continued as she took refuge behind a piece of blast glass and fired towards the piece of metal.
The metal turned bright blue just after 3 seconds and after 6. The metal broke into an uncountable amount of pieces, piercing cabinet doors, countertops, blast glass and even the viewing window. "Potlch Ore she calls that... Imagine placing that on a battlefield, and getting your enemies to shoot it... I'd mangle them and their pride." Eden finished with a smile.
"Impressive. Is this a way to stregthen armour?" Louise asked curiously. "This could prove useful if it can stand up against Klingon and Cardassian weapons."
Eden stretched out a finger, pointing at the shard that pierced the viewing window. "Not yet. We still need to test what it can pierce like Alliance Armour but Madai Potočnik," Nodding towards her as she exited the lab. "Believes she is close to a breakthrough."
"Well. Keep working on it." Louise said simply. "Anything else you've been working on?" She asked.
Edean smiled, "Many things ma'am," He spoke mischiefly as a child hiding something for a parent. "But nothing as interesting as this breakthrough." Referring to Potočnik's discovery. "You can be assured, that I will report all breakthroughs through the chain of command."
"As I would expect," Louise said holding her head high. "Can you vouch for the loyalty of your people?" She asked sharply.
His people, all people he had worked with before at some point, of course, it would be impossible to bring who he really wanted to bring but he was proud of what he could. "Loyal to me and my loyalty is to you, Captain." He replied.
"Good." Louise nodded. She turned towards the door. "Carry on Lieutenant." She said simply before her strides took her through the door and away down the corridor.
