Anubis Rises
Location: ISS Anubis
The Anubis was finally ready to launch. The last couple of days had been hectic for the crew, but finally the mew warship was ready. The doors of the bridge swished open and Captain Louise Vallière stepped out.
She made her way, confidence in each step to her command chair. There she stood in front of it, her hands on her hips as she looked around. She then tapped her comm badge opening a ship wide communication. "Today the Terran Empire launches the Imperial Starship Anubis. You are all witness to this glorious event. We will take back what was our, we will liberate our fellow Terrans and most importantly we will not let anyone stop us from doing so."
She took one step forward. "Glory to the Empire!" She announced as she saluted.
Elias steps out behind the Captain, an ever present shadow to the captain as her personal guard. He took his duties seriously.
"GLORY TO THE EMPIRE!" He repeated with a salute.
Raelyn stood out of the XO's chair and followed with her own salute. "For the Empire!" she bellowed
"For the Empire!" Reina quickly followed suit, standing from a converted console on the bridge.
"Now. Let's get this ship moving!" She said simply before lowering herself down into the center chair.
Eden already sat at the Main Science console. He noticed the CO arrive on deck, and made a speech but he still focused on his console. Checking ALL sensors were operating at their maximum to prove they were an asset to the Empire, not a weakness.
[Engineering]
Welp, it was the moment of truth.
Not to say that Kirche lacked confidence in her abilities as an Engineer (on the contrary, she wouldn't have gone to the trouble of screwing her way up the ladder to become a fully-fledged Yard Supervisor if she did)- but when all was said and done, the Hestia was, put bluntly, the most complicated war machine ever devised by Terran minds; even with the additional staff allocations, the fact that she had had to get this whole thing wired up in what was basically a fraction of the usual turnaround time for ships of this scope meant that the Anubis hadn't received the level of refinement that she would've otherwise devoted to it on a normal work schedule. Was that to say she was worried about something going wrong? No, far from it, but she was going to have to work out the kinks as she went along- not exactly something she would've preferred to do, but given the situation, it would have to suffice.
She booted up the main Engineering terminal and ran a quick diagnostic to ensure that there weren't any major bugs that could hinder the ship's performance. A few errors showed up on the screen, but a quick examination determined that these were nothing critical to the ship's operation- once they were under way, she could see to it that the issues in question were properly resolved.
More-or-less satisfied with her findings, Kirche proceeded to run the main boot-up sequence. Shifting her attention over to the towering, multi-leveled structure that was the warp core, she watched with keen interest as a faint blue distortion began to materialize within the main chamber- barely discernible at first, but after just a few minutes it began to glow much more intensely, indicative of the reaction process working as it should.
With a swell of pride, Kirche reached up and tapped her com badge.
=Engineering to Bridge; Anubis has power, over,= she reported.
[Bridge]
"Well, you heard her!" Louise said simply. "Lets not stick around here all day! Move out! Now!"
"Powering up engines," the officer sat at the helm called. His hands running over the controls. "Where to Captain?" he asked calmly.
"Take us out of the Tera System. Then head towards the border." Louise said simply. She looked around the bridge at her crew. She then sat back in her chair as the Anubis began to slowly make its way out of the drydock and into space.
Eden swung his chair around to face the command team. "Science ready ma'am," He stated with his arm along the brim of the console. He was looking forward to working aboard a warship instead of an infected and diseased world.
"Good to know. It's about time we tested this new ship of ours." Louise said. "Bring all weapons online and find me a Cardassian or Klingon ship to shoot at!"
Reina quickly looked over all Alliance ship movements nearby, and one caught her attention:
"Oooh," Reina spoke up. "There's an entire convoy of ships passing through the sector: Looks like they're protecting something important:"
Louise sat forward in her chair. "Helm. Take us to that convoy." She ordered. "Captain. Have your soldiers ready to board, we're going to board those ships." Louise said. "All hands battlestations."
Elias nods with a wicked grin, bowing slightly. “With pleasure, Captain.” He replied as he turns and heads for the turbolifts to go gear up.
"If they are protecting something, then it's valuable. That means it's going to be ours." Louise said simply as she crossed one leg over the other in her chair. She could feel the adrenaline in her body starting to rise, this would be the first time the Anubis went into battle and she was looking forward to bringing the warships impressive arsenal to bear upon their enemy.
