Mission:
Anubis Rises
Location: Cardassian Transport
"No don't hurt him!" the woman screamed out as the Cardassian soldier grasped the hair of her son. "He's only a child! Please!" she begged, tears running down her cheeks.
"His fault for being born such a disgusting species!" The Cardassian snarled. "Just like vermin he's stealing food! Food that could be used to feed other more valuable species, like us Cardassians!"
"Please don't! You hardly feed us, he was just trying to survive!" the woman cried out. She tried to lunge forward, only to be kicked back by the Cardassian soldier.
"Well he won't have to worry about that soon will he. He's just a waste of resources, and its not like anyone will want to buy such a weak pitiful thing..."
A deep growl could be heard, following by fierce barking, as a large animal ran passes several of the slaves watching the Cardassian solider and womans back and forth. The wolf like creature moved so quickly, it was difficult for the Cardassian to prepare, which led to the beast slamming into him. The solider was knocked down, releasing the boy from his grasp, as the animal seemed to begin to walk away. It's eyes watched the Cardassian cautiously as a muscular man in raggedy clothes began to approach.
The man walked through the crowd, who seemed to part immediately before he got to them, like he was someone they respected or feared. Perhaps even both. The figures eyes were locked on the man, as two other soldiers entered the room with weapons drawn, but he didn't seem to care. It was as if they weren't even there. The man was focused on the Carassian on the floor, just like the animal was.
As he came to a stop, he crossed his arms over his chest, narrowing his eyes slightly to the Cardassian as he spoke in a deep voice. "Start your grievance with the boy, Cardassian." He said as the animal came to a stop at his side, as it continued to bear its teeth while its eyes remained locked on the Cardassian.
"Get back to where you belong!" The Soldier bellowed. "You dare to set that... Animal on me?!" He started to pick himself up off the floor and turned to look at the man.
"I warned you about putting your hands these children!" He responded with a raised voice. His gaze seeming more intense as the animal crouched down slightly, as if preparing to pounce. "You were warned that this animal does not take kindly to those who don't listen." The man took a step forward, which prompted the two Cardassian's with weapons drawn to step up, keeping the weapons trained on him. Still, he showed no reaction, as he repeated in a softer tone. "I will ask again... What is your issued with the boy?"
"Are you stupid Terran?!" The soldier growled. "He was caught stealing food! Food that could be used to feed Cardassians! That deserves punishment! His mother too, for she allowed him to do so!". The Cardassian locked eyes with the man. "Surely you must know that discipline it essential for control! As a slave you should obey your masters!"
His eyes remained focused on the Cardassian as he narrowed his eyes and smirked slightly. "Then you take your pound of flesh from me!" The man slowly removed his ragged shirt, revealing a few tribal-like tattoos and scars. Some where old and scabbed over. Others were still in the process of healing. Slowly, he turned around, holding out his arms slowly. "Go on then." He said calmly, with no hint of fear or intimidation, as he added. "Which one of you is brave enough to take it from me? The last one of your kind that attacked me ended up dead. It took six of you that day to beat me down, but I still stood right back up."
The two Cardassian soldiers looked at each other, than to the other Cardassian who began this all. They remembered that day clearly. The two of them were involved in the Terran's beating, but when they were all finished, the man rose with a defiant look in his eyes. Beaten and bruised, look running down from his nose and freshly opened scars, he just seemed to stare at them as if asking for more. In the end, the man cost them one of their own, but he still refused to show them respect.
"Go on then!" The man shouted. "What are you waiting for?!!
The soldier hesitated. "Control these slaves!" he growled at him. "Keep them in line and we'll overlook this. This time!" he said before turning away.
As the two Cardassian soldiers followed their fellow solider out, the man turned his head slightly, watching the doors seal behind them. He let out a quick scoff as he lowered his hands down to his sides. He looked down at the animal and said softly. "Good boy, Kupua. At ease."
Immediately, the animal went into a sitting position, looking up to the muscular man with its tail wagging and tongue hanging out. Kupua was at peace, no longer showing hostility or caution, but acting like a domesticated dog would to its master.
The man looked over to the mother and her son as he asked a simple question in a calm and soft voice. "Are you okay?"
The woman and boy nodded in unison. "Yes, thankyou Jason." she said.
The boy looked up at Jason. "Thankyou Mister Kane." he added with a smile. "And I'm sorry, I only took the food because I was hungry."
"Don't ever apologize for doing what you need to do to survive." Jason replied quickly, looking down to the boy with a firm look. He bent down to pick up the raggedy shirt, before putting it back on. "Next time..." He said as he returned his gaze to the boy, a small smile formed on his face. "Don't get caught." Jason added with a wink.
The boy smiled. "I will try," he said cheerily.
He looked over to the mother and nodded his head, giving her a small smile, before saying. "Go be with your son. He's probably still scared about what happened."
"If you want. I can repay you for your help!" The woman said. "He's a sickly boy yes, but, I can provide you with a stronger son. I know I can!" she told him. "Just say it and I will provide for you..."
Before the woman could do anything, he took a hold of her wrists, looking down at her. His stare was intense as he thought to himself. What kind of mother is she to give herself away so easily, in earshot of her own son? Of course, she was showing her gratitude for his help, but he would have done it for any of them and expected nothing in return. The thought of striking her crossed his mind, but he soon released her wrists from his grasp.
"What good would it be to have you provide me with a child while you are still a slave on this ship?" Jason said firmly as he kept to his strong gaze and firm tone. "They would sooner rip it from you and neither of us would see the child again? For now, tend to the child you still have. If I need a body to share my bed, then I will consider you along with the others who have made the same offer."
The woman blushed and looked down. "I'm sorry. Its just, I know they're less likely to execute me if I'm expecting. Even they're not that evil, at least not yet." she told him. "I just hope that they keep us together..." she looked over at her son. "You know, when they do sell us."
"You expect too much from them." Jason replied firmly as he gestured to Kupua, who got up on all fours and took his place by Jason. "If they had any sympathy or emotions, these Cardassians would have expressed it by now. Right now, their only concern, is ensure you all get to where they need you to be. Your condition doesn't seem to be a factor." He placed his hands on his hips and let out a frustrated sigh. "I've done all I can to ensure all of you are unharmed, taking the beatings whenever possible, but that wont last long. I am sure, my destination, wont be the same as yours. They have different plans for me."
"You know your fate already?" The woman asked. "Do you know more about where they're taking us?"
"I don't know it for certain, but I know it's not the same as yours. Or the others." Jason replied as his eyes focused to the group.
He watched them all assembling, talking amongst each other, and comforting each other. He knew their fate was going to be just like it was here, but far worse. For Jason, his future was nothing but pain and torture. Interrogations about what he was doing when they found him and what he was after. However, if he found a means to get out of here, the consequences from the Terran Empire would be worse. He was caught and that would bring some form of punishment.
"What I know for sure, is this." He continued, looking over to the woman with stern eyes, while keeping to his lower and deep voice. "The rest of you are being moved to another location where you could be sold and bought to people who may do far worse things to you than these people have done to you already. Me, I am going somewhere where they will try to get information. They will try and try, but they will fail. I won't give them a single thing. In fact, when they lower their guard and begin to feel comfortable, I will show them exactly how dangerous I can be. Before they kill me... I plan to take as many with me as possible."
